ANEMONE ME

In March Of 2016 Janavi Was diving in the Maldives. She fell in love with the movement of a deep red and blue underwater field of sea anemone. The colors that swayed in front of her mesmerized her to explore the perspective and depth created by these soft and gentle delicate forms. She expressively has decided to explore the rarer colored sea anemone. Stay tuned for more pictures she will unveil in 2017 at her next solo exhibition.

I've been Thinking about you.

PLASTIC PAINTINGS

Each painting has its own experience, yet they interconnect as if in conversation with one another through a universal language created strictly through imagery.

REFLECT TO REFRACT

REFLECT TO REFRACT

REFLECTING

There is something surreal about being suspended, inanimate, and staring into the undersurface, only to see a distorted reality, being reflected back. By applying the study of light and the physical process of reflection and refraction of light underwater on the human body, JMF created this conceptual series. Each work depicts a random realistic or peculiar scene underwater. In these works the reflection of the subject matter is painted in the undersurface of the water. There is a sense of ridicule to the general laws of matter and a break in the universal belief of how things may function in our world,in these works. The also express a sense of whimsicality, and refer to social behavioral issues and understandings.

FABRIC to Plastic

JMF spent hours figuring this technique and process. The goal and initial spark was to take a material that had an organic flow, and use it to create something that felt almost unnaturally industrial. She wanted to create her characters and bring them to a different dimensional platform. Each form and color is a freestanding part that can be moved to create many different characters and installations. They are purely fabric, but,  when treated with JMF's trade secret, they are made to feel and look like plexiglass/ plastic. JMF, invites her viewers to feel free to touch these installations. Her goal is to create intrigue and,  conversation. So that she in her own way can bring about some awareness about marine ecosystem issues that our world is facing.
